Mapping A Legacy of Resistance

On Monday, September 30th, 2019 the Social Justice League joined together with the Art Club to map resistance! Through the Mapping Resistance exhibition of El Museo del Barrio we got to learn about our local historical activists, the Young Lords. The Young Lords were a revolutionary group of young Puerto Ricans who fought for social justice in El Barrio in the 1960s by advocating for better healthcare, education, proper housing and employment. What was so inspiring was that many members of the Young Lords were our age and as young as 16 years old. Despite their age, they were able to accomplish so much. Their legacy proves that the voices of the young are very powerful and can spark real change. Our voices matter and together arm in arm we can make a difference. Palante!
