On March 15, 2019, the Al Noor Mosque and the Linwood Islamic Centre in Christchurch, New Zealand were attacked by a gunman. In total, 50 people who were killed and 49 people were injured. Around the world, people were making donations and were finding ways to support the family of the victims from this horrific terrorist attack. At Cristo Rey, we found a way to support them.
Led by two of our students, Cristo Rey created a letter for the two mosques and had the Cristo Rey Community write a message of support to the family of the victims. In two days, we had over 100 signatures and messages of love and support. All the way from East Harlem, we were there for them.
